Hi, I'm Barbara!

I’ve worked in nutrition for over forty years, helping people improve their health and wellbeing through the power of food.

My Background

I originally trained as a home economist before retraining as a nutritional therapist in the early 1980s. I then set up a clinic in Manchester, where I worked for over seventeen years, helping clients address a wide range of health issues through diet and natural remedies.

During that time, I began writing cookery and nutrition books to support my clients, many of whom needed recipe ideas after certain foods were removed from their diets.

My Books

My first book, Cooking Without, was self-published, as is my latest. Its popularity spread through word of mouth, and before long I was shipping copies not only across the UK but around the world. Eventually, Cooking Without was taken on by Thorsons, an imprint of HarperCollins.

Two more books followed in the series, and then Easy Tasty Healthy was published in 2016. Each one explores different aspects of health and healing.

I believe that food should nourish, support and restore the body without feeling restrictive or complicated. Over the years, I have seen how small, thoughtful changes to diet can make a profound difference to health and wellbeing.
